WELCOME, friends!
Here's my story, a short version and a longer one.
If you like opera or art, a good book or a good laugh, want to take a walk or talk about fairness and the world, I'd love to connect!

ABOUT ME
THE SHORT STORY:With an extensive background as opera and theater director, New Hampshire-based Lucinda Winslow has also worked as a piano instructor, television caption writer, and ESL teacher, but currently focuses on creative writing and social justice initiatives. She directed numerous opera productions to critical acclaim in New York City, and with her husband won the 2018 RESULTS Grassroots award for their prolific contribution to LTE writing asking politicians to enact smart policies to end poverty. She is currently readying a debut mystery thriller (with a pianist-sleuth who grapples with social justice issues), with sequels in the works. She lives with her husband at her family’s homestead, with cows (borrowed for the summer), gardens (insisting on plants that take care of themselves), and has two grown children who are flying in lovely ways. She yearns for another cat or two (after seven) but enjoys freedom to travel without angst.
AND A LONGER ONE: I love laughter, play, beauty, and fairness. No surprise I’ve spent my life balancing performing arts leadership, creative writing, and social advocacy. With a BA from Harvard and a Masters in Opera Directing from Indiana University, for a long time I focused on performance, working with the National Theatre of the Deaf, (creating two TV WGBH Specials, Who Knows One, and A Silken Tent with Jason Robards), running a NH children’s theater Andy’s Summer Playhouse, and staging operas and operettas to critical acclaim—notably at Bronx Opera Gian-Carlo Menotti’s The Medium, the NY premiere of Kirke Mecham’s Tartuffe, a revival of Copeland’s The Tender Land, and nine Gilbert & Sullivan operettas for Trouper’s Light Opera in Stamford CT. With NYC coach accompanist Dan Ragone, I co-created Beyond Limits, a masterclass helping singers integrate technical skill into "spellbinding performance,” then opened my own piano studio for adults and children. Since 2013, I’ve focused on writing, have a debut mystery thriller (with a pianist-sleuth who grapples with social justice issues) and am readying it for the publishing world, with sequels in the works. My favorite short-form writing is Letters to the Editor focusing on social justiceon, and with my husband won the RESULTS Grassroots Award for our prolific LTE campaigns. A COVID refugee from the NY area, I now live in NH’s arts-rich Monadnock region at my family’s homestead in NH, with husband, cows, gardens, and beautiful birds. Our grown children are flying in lovely ways. Small town-life in a very purple state is fascinating and challenges preconceptions. Especially now, I feel we must listen to each other carefully, balancing accountability with compassion and kindness.
